I’m really excited to start another new series on the blog featuring some of my favorite bloggers and their basic baking tips and beloved baking tools. Although there are plenty of fantastic recipes out there, I love learning basic tricks from other bloggers that make time in the kitchen easier and more fun, and I hope you do too. To kick of the series I’m thrilled to introduce Carrian of Oh, Sweet Basil.

Erica: Hi Carrian, it’s great to have you here! Please tell my readers and I a little about yourself and your blog.

Hi everyone! I’m Carrian from Oh, Sweet Basil which is a food blog all about reinventing family dinner. I grew up in a home where everything stopped at meal time. We just sat around and talked and ate and enjoyed being together with good quality food and now that  I’ve got a family of my own I’m trying to bring that all back to life. I was born and raised in Washington, met my South Carolina husband in Idaho and now we have two children and live in Utah! We pretty much love anything to do with having fun and eating delicious food. In fact, a special treat will win me over far more than roses.

Erica: What’s your blogging baking basic you’d like to share with all of us?

Our tip is actually an easy one but makes a huge difference in baking. We like to always toss our chocolate chips into the flour, shake off the excess and then proceed with the recipe. This keeps the chocolate chips from sinking down in the brownies, bread or cookies and heaven knows I want chocolate chips all throughout my dessert!

Erica: Genius! I love it, what a simple but helpful little trick. Here are some fantastic recipes from Oh, Sweet Basil featuring lots of chips and the opportunity to try out Carrian’s tip.
